These shoes took a while to break-in for me because of the super stiff midsole, but once they did, I loved the lightness of the shoe and its performance on long trail runs!
These shoes, being a very supportive and rather stiff/rigid design, took me a while to break in. I did get blisters on the inner part of my midsole on longer runs for the first 5-6 runs (3-8 miles each). This commonly happens to me when I run in shoes with stiffer midsoles though, and it seems to be the trade-off for me. I do prefer a more stable running shoe as I have had several injuries to my feet and this style helps me a lot!
There are steel shanks that have been integrated into the midsole that create that rigid midsole, but give the shoe quite a lot of that stability.
They have become more comfortable over time, and have always felt lightweight and I LOVE the low profile for a trail runner!
PS. The heel cup fits amazing on my narrow ankle area and is a spot I usually get blisters, but I don't in the Bushidos!
The Bushido has amazing traction, I have ran in all sort of weather on narrow and steep footpaths, and I have never felt insecure. The rubber feels very sticky on rocks etc. as well!
I have had these shoes for 9 months now and they are still feeling good to run in! (I only use them for trail running) So I would say this is a good value.
I enjoyed these shoes once they were broken in, but struggled with how many times I did blister my midsole on longer runs. This was probably due to the rigid midsole, and could be combined with my arch-size just not being quite right!
If you have a mid to high arch and a narrow foot, these could be perfect for you as they are an amazing technical trail shoe!
